These days on the topic of corruption one can find people say often that first introspect/clean corruption within you etc etc. No disregards...its a very novel idea but very statesman like!
At the same time it means that they consider cleaning corruption is a bottom-up process. Points such as Elected representatives/police/bureaucrats/government servants/etc are nothing but people amongst us...what they are is a mere reflection of our society!
But I beg to differ....differ not because I don't have guts to introspect neither because I don't understand Lokpal and especially not because of me being anti-establishment.
Its a top-down process. We need to stop that big ticket acts of corruption plaguing this country. We need a strong watchdog at the top to curb such acts. Once a "Not by wish Honest" leader of the country is made forcefully honest then it will automatically reflect in the subordinates and would then this culture will flow from top downwards improving the system.
To check the corruption at "INTROSPECTING" level first thing that could be done is to place the systems in place. "IT Powerhouse" should learn to use so called IT for its own good. Only that would reduce such wastage but not eliminate it as we are dealing with humans(Now don't tell to introspect again). I guess UID and other Income Tax department initiatives are in this regard. Second thing is please help the "Poor" neglected public servants in security/law & order/justice/Administration by increasing their salaries w.r.t. increased productivity post such measures. Removing corruption at grassroot level is toughest and an allround approach combined of above points and reforms for effective implementation of law and order and timely delivery of justice will make sure that people will not need to Introspect.
Coming back to JanLokpal. Its the transformation that we need to improve the quality and morality of leaders at the top. Absolute powers should rest with nobody but at the same time there should be check to everyone's powers. You need champions to sit at the top and transform the system. You need strong leadership. Its a pity that our independent nation lost all such champions at its very early age. To create more such champion leaders I am with one such Champion - Shri Anna Hazare!
Democracy after all is an electoral process of symbols, leadership, system, freedom and most importantly change.
Let the change begin...INDIAN REVOLUTION!
Good one arpit !!
